SIM Toolkit is a built-in Surfroam SIM app with an icon that looks like a SIM chip named SIM Applications, Profile or Tools. No need to download it from anywhere. SIM Toolkit will be shown on your device when your Surfroam SIM is inserted into SLOT 1.
What mean "Location Profiles"?
Surfroam SIM uses eSIM technology, and one physical SIM card carries many eSIM cards, we call it location profiles Global, Ultra, and Global+. Every location profile provides a different set of local network access with different rates and features. In Surfroam simple account switching between location profiles executed automatically by embedded SIM application according to our rates list. In Surfroam PRO account, you need to switch location profile manually in each country.
Your device network bands support when travelling
Network operators on the different continents use different frequencies, and not all devices support all network frequencies. Advantages of using hotspot with Surfroam
You can share your Surfroam mobile data with other travellers. You can leave your service provider's SIM card on your smartphone, meaning that you can still make and receive voice calls and SMS messages when travelling. However, your service provider may charge you for these services. You can use Surfroam data service even if your smartphone is carrier-locked.
What is EU internet in my device settings?
Apple has added a dedicated “EU Internet” switch alongside the existing data roaming toggle. To use Surfroam SIM card, you need to set EU Internet toggle to OFF.
Hotspot setting on iPhone
iPhone doesn't support multi IMSI (global) SIM cards. That's why you can't use the personal hotspot on the iPhone, but it is possible on the iPad. Hotspot feature available on iOS 12.x, but: in some countries, local operators may block it.
Do I need to enable Roaming on my device?
Yes, you need Roaming service enabled to use Surfroam service.
What is a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot?
A mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is a portable cellular device that allows you to share a wireless mobile data connection between several Wi-Fi enabled devices, e.g. smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Local networks may limit hotspot feature in countries under Ultra and Global location profiles. Please refer to the Surfroam actual rates, and there you will see all countries with profile markets.
Can I suspend my Surfroam service and reactivate it later?
There is no need to suspend your service - Surfroam does not charge a monthly fee. You only pay for the data you use according to the actual Surfroam rates.
Why do I use my data more quickly with a Wi-Fi hotspot feature?
Any device connected to the hotspot's Wi-Fi network will not realize that it's connected to a cellular data network. It will behave as if it's connected to a Wi-Fi network (which it is), so any settings that usually restrict data access when connected to a cellular network will ignore. To reduce excessive data usage, we suggest turning off push notifications for email and social apps, closing non-essential apps and browser windows, and powering off the hotspot when you don't need to use mobile
Does Surfroam work on a cruise ships?
Surfroam provides coverage in onshore (landline) networks only. During open sea navigation, you will have no access to any network. Please check Surfroam actual rates and coverage.
