How to understand Surfroam rates?

We use a simple rate system for Surfroam, as described below.

A single Surfroam eSIM and SIM contains multiple SIM profiles called IMSIs, which are stored onboard in SIM or eSIM memory.

Each IMSI connects to different networks within a country, and each IMSI has its own pricing.

So, it is simple:
ONE Country = Many IMSI
ONE IMSI = ONE Rate

Why does Surfroam eSIM use multiple IMSIs?

Having multiple IMSIs gives you more flexibility to:

Get better data rates
Improve coverage in remote or city areas
Switch networks if one has connectivity issues

You can rely on automatic IMSI selection or manually choose one upon arrival—or even before your journey.

How Surfroam Rates Work:

Different IMSIs on Each SIM Type

- Surfroam SIM includes IMSI 2, 10, 22, and 23
- Surfroam eSIM includes IMSI 2, 7, 10, 22, 25, and 26

Multiple IMSIs Available per Country

- In some countries, multiple IMSIs allow access to different networks.
- Example: In Austria, IMSI 7, 22, and 25 provide access to networks A1 and 3 AT, but at different rates.

Surfroam rates example

Each IMSI Has a Dedicated Rate

- Pricing varies depending on which IMSI is used.
- Example for Austria:

- IMSI 7 (A1 network) → € 0.002 per MB

- IMSI 25 (A1 & 3 AT networks) → € 0.004 per MB

- IMSI 22 (A1 & 3 AT) → € 0.006 per MB

We charge data with one KB step, which gives you massive savings.

Automatic and Manual IMSI Selection

- Your device will connect to an available IMSI automatically.
- You may manually select an IMSI if multiple options exist.
